    Step 1 · Problem

    Identify Your Problem

What problem are you trying to solve?

    2

    Step 2 · Crawlspace Solution

    Select your primary crawlspace need.

    3

    Step 3 · Water Check

    Review Water Check

    Water Comes First

If there is standing water, mud, active seepage, or exterior drainage pushing water into the crawlspace, those issues should be reviewed before finalizing a liner package. A liner should not be used to hide an active water problem.

    Sump, Drainage & Water Management

Standing water and poor drainage may need to be reviewed before the crawlspace system is finalized. If excavation is needed, MISS DIG 811 should be contacted at least 3 business days before digging.

    Step 5

    Radon Testing Note

    Radon Awareness

If radon is a concern, testing should be reviewed before or alongside crawlspace sealing. A vapor barrier or encapsulation system may be part of a broader plan, but radon mitigation should be handled according to proper requirements. EPA recommends fixing homes at 4 pCi/L or higher.

    6

    Step 6

    Lead-Safe Note for Older Homes

Was your home built before 1978?

If crawlspace work disturbs painted surfaces—such as access doors, trim, or openings—lead-safe requirements may apply. EPA says paid contractors who disturb paint in pre-1978 housing generally must be certified in lead-safe work practices.
